Our partner, Walpole Island First Nation (Bkejwanong Territory), encompasses six islands occupied by the Ojibwe, Potawatomi, and Odawa peoples for thousands of years. The First Nation is committed to a sustainable future within its Traditional Territory, including being heavily involved in the renewable energy sector.
With turbine blades made in Tillsonburg, Ontario, and towers built in Windsor, Belle River Wind’s 40 Siemens Gamesa 3.2 MW turbines capture the region’s strong winds to produce renewable energy for the province.
Belle River Wind brings economic benefits to the Lakeshore community, including more than $4 million over the first 20 years of operations in property taxes for the Municipality, Essex County, and local schools.
