Logan’s Gap Wind

Comanche County, Texas

Located on ranch land between Comanche and Blanket, Logan’s Gap Wind sells most of its energy to Walmart Stores, Inc.

01 /
  • The 200 MW facility uses 87 American-made Siemens Gamesa wind turbines to produce homegrown energy, with nacelles and hubs manufactured in Kansas, blades made in Iowa, and most towers built by Broadwind Energy in Abilene, Texas.

  • Logan’s Gap Wind expects to pay an estimated $80 million in tax payments over its first 25 years of operations, benefiting Comanche County and the Blanket, Comanche, and Mullin Independent School Districts.

Our Community Benefits Program sponsors local organizations, causes, and events, including the Comanche County Agency on Aging, the Salvation Army Food Assistance Program, the Park Enhancement Group of Comanche, and the Comanche Youth Council.

We place great importance on being an active part of the communities where we have a presence.

Approximately 550 workers were on-site during peak construction activity in 2015, which included local contractors to the greatest extent possible. A talented team of 11 full-time employees operates and maintains the facility.

Compared to Texas coal-fired generation, the site’s annual production conserves enough water to meet the needs of 9,000 people and avoids carbon dioxide emissions equal to more than 150,000 cars.
