Better Together: Comanche Chamber Community Events

April 19, 2022

Virginia Fleming is the Executive Director of the Comanche, Texas, Chamber of Commerce and I had a chance to speak to her recently about the Chamber, its growth and events coming up over the next few months.

Almost every town and city has a chamber of commerce, but not every town has one like Comanche, and the pride was evident from the start of our conversation.

“We’re all very proud of our community in Comanche,” Virginia told me, “and I believe that is reflected in the exponential growth the Chamber has seen over the last five years.”

Virginia shared that the City of Comanche is a great partner for the chamber, and they are able to accomplish all that they do with the city’s help.

The chamber also gets involved with the city council when they can be additive, doing things like advocating for businesses that don’t rely on tourism for revenue.

“We just had our event, ‘Sipping in the Sunshine’, and it was a hit,” Virginia said. “It’s wonderful for Comanche to be open to the world again!”

She then went on to share some events in Comanche happening soon as well as their big one coming this September!

Shop N’ Hop!

In April, the Comanche Chamber hosted Shop N’ Hop, an Easter celebration for families.

The fun took place on April 16th, featuring a bounce house for the kids, food trucks for all, and the Easter bunny for pictures.

Fiesta De Momma

On May 7th, the historic Comanche Square sees the combination of Cinco de Mayo and Mother’s Day in Fiesta De Momma! From 11-4, there will be Mexican food, a bounce house for the kids, games, shopping, and more!

As Virginia ran through the impressive list of events for the year (there are too many to list!), she got to the one she was most excited about.

“We have one event per month and four big events each year,” she said, “and the fourth weekend in September, we are putting on our Pow Wow event, the largest we hold all year!”

Pow Wow

The Pow Wow is celebrating its 40th Anniversary in Comanche. It is a treasured community event seeing participation from the broader community in the region and participation by members of the Sawahe Tribe, who will be sharing their culture with Pow Wow attendees.

During the Pow Wow event, there is a BBQ Cookoff, Car Show, a Tractor and Engine Show, the TMRA Motorcycle Show and a lot more family-friendly entertainment.

For more information, head on over to the Comanche Chamber website to see their events tab.

Have a great summer in Comanche!
