Post Rock Wind

Ellsworth & Lincoln Counties, Kansas

Post Rock Wind sits upon 23,000 acres of farm and ranch land approximately 80 miles from Wichita in northcentral Kansas.

01 /
  • The facility includes 134 American-made General Electric 1.5 MW turbines and connects to the electric grid in Rice County through a 31-mile transmission line.

  • Over the first 20 years of operations, Post Rock Wind expects to contribute more than $10 million in taxes to benefit the residents of Ellsworth, Lincoln, and Rice counties.

Post Rock Wind gives back by supporting groups, causes, and events that strengthen the local community, such as the Ellsworth Volunteer Fire Department and Wilson Czech Opera House.

Approximately 250 workers were on-site during peak construction activity in 2012, which sourced subcontractors and suppliers from across the region. A talented team of 13 full-time employees operates and maintains the site.

Electricity produced by the 201 MW facility is equal to the needs of approximately 200,000 people and sold to Kansas-based electric utility Evergy.

Post Rock Wind contributed to the Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks, and Tourism to help improve 733 acres of wetlands habitat in Cheyenne Bottoms.
