Life is full of surprises.

All of us at some point have ups and downs, but sometimes the downs can be a bit more than we can handle. Founded in 2000, Project Hope is a non-profit dedicated to helping people through the rough times when they need assistance the most. (Their Facebook page is here: Project Hope).

Simply put, their motto is: Neighbors Helping Neighbors.

In the beginning, Project Hope helped people as a food bank and thrift store. Later, they expanded their services and were able to help people with emergency medical needs like gasoline, medical expenses, utilities and more). The mission is to serve Stillwater County residents in need, and so thanks to its team and community support, Project Hope was able to keep expanding its services over the years.
For Thanksgiving and Christmas, Project Hope takes on the task of delivering 65 food boxes per month, around 90 such boxes at Thanksgiving and Christmas, and gets more than 33,000 pounds of food for the county.

Stillwater Backpacks provides food to school-age kids with easy to make meals in homes where there may not be enough to eat. Local school principals and teachers from five towns make sure 119 kids find bags of food to get them through the weekend.

Kids Shopping Day, Angel Tree

In December, Project Hope puts on “Kids Shopping Day,” which gets into the spirit of the season by making it easy for kids to get Christmas gifts for their families. For the cost of three dollars, kids can purchase up to five gifts for their family members. For families struggling during the holiday season, an Angel Tree program makes sure close to fifty families have gifts for Christmas.

Valentines Day for Seniors

Project Hope looks out for all the members of the community, and so for Valentine’s Day, Project Hope delivers handmade Valentine’s made by local school kids to seniors at long-term care facilities.

A Caring Community

Project Hope is run by volunteers who believe strongly in their mission. Stillwater County cares about its community, so Project Hope steps in when neighbors find it hard to get by and cover their needs.

Their thrift stores, donations they receive, grants, and an annual fundraiser drive all contribute to keeping the operation going so that they can keep supporting their community members in need.

Like their motto says, it’s Neighbors Helping Neighbors.
