The Parry Sound District is one step closer to adding more clean energy to its electric power grid.

In its latest construction update, Henvey Inlet Wind is reporting it’s nearing the end of construction with only finishing touches left at the wind farm site.

Currently, work is continuing to conduct safety inspections, ongoing environmental work and site restoration on the project site.

Work completed to date includes:

∙    87 of 87 turbines have now been erected complete with 261 blades total;

∙    100% of the cable has been installed and pulled into 87 turbines;

∙    100% of the 104 km transmission line is now complete; and

∙    100% of the North and South Substations are now complete.

Henvey Inlet Wind is a partnership between the Nigig Power Corporation, a subsidiary of Henvey Inlet First Nation and Pattern Canada.

The wind farm is expected to be operational this summer.
