The dawn in the High Plains is beautiful; even at a truck stop waking up to start its day.
Moriarty, New Mexico, sits in the High Plains region of the Estancia Valley, just off Route 66, which continues to be a major transportation artery of the United States, and it is alive and well with travelers and freight haulers going through New Mexico east and west.
All along the Mother Road, towns have travel oases that people are used to seeing along the highway. Gasoline, some food, a restroom… these places often have the same amenities.
At sunrise, with a little shift in perspective to take in the view from above, the elegant glide of semi tractor trailers on and off the highway can feel poetic. Meanwhile truckers, waking with the sun, walk inside to get their morning coffee. Autos with people on their own journeys, move in and out of the station, all of it an orchestra of movement and life rising to meet a new day in New Mexico.
The dawn in the High Plains is beautiful; even at a truck stop waking up to start its day. We hope you enjoy this unique view of a charming town in New Mexico, and appreciate that beauty is everywhere in our amazing state.
