Get ready for an arts and culture tour like no other!
La Belle Tournée (The Beautiful Tour) returns for the eleventh year this fall. From October 1 to 3, artists, merchants, and cultural spots will be featured on the tour throughout the Beauce region.
Bringing Everyone Together
The Municipality of Beauce-Sartigan and the nonprofit organization Artists and Artisans of Beauce are collaborating to bring this event to life. The goal of the event is to gather artists and artisans of Beauce to contribute to the cultural and artistic development of the region.
It all started in the Fall of 2007 when a committee noticed that there was a huge arts and culture community in the area, but it wasn’t easy for people to find them.
From a desire to make art more accessible to the public, and to make Beauce artists and artisans better known for their work, the tour was created to celebrate local arts and culture.
Since then, photographers, sculptors, painters, and more have opened their workshops to visitors to showcase what they do.
Moving Into the Digital World
More recently, the event has changed up a bit to allow for activities to go on while staying COVID safe. Anyone who wants to participate virtually can do so by tuning into live streams and virtual tours from some of the workshops.
Organizers say they are excited to give people outside the area an opportunity to participate in the event through digital platforms.
Nearly 2,000 visitors attend each year from all over Québec, and even from outside the province.
What’s the Plan for 2021?
There will be more than 30 local artists and their workshops on the tour, as well as several cafés, churches, and art galleries open that weekend.
Artists representing the Saint-Marie area include Geneviève St-André, Johanne Grondin, François Drouin, and André Grégoire. A full list of participating artists from the area can be found here: LINK.
The tour will end with a closing ceremony on Sunday which will bring together all the artists, elected officials, partners, and visitors.
If you’re interested in attending the event in-person or online, more information can be found on the website here.
