On May 13, 2022, the SunZia Project filed an Application to Amend Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) Decision No. 75464, which approved the Certificate of Environmental Compatibility (CEC) for the transmission lines and associated facilities. The Application to Amend requests three modifications to the previously-approved CEC. Specifically, the SunZia Project requests amendments to:

i) authorize the use of updated DC structure designs and additional structure types to be used in a one-mile area near Pinal Central substation that were identified during detailed engineering efforts;

ii) allow for separate assignment and future ownership of each approved transmission line and its associated facilities to enable project financing: and

iii) extend the expiration date for transmission line 1 from February 2026 to February 2028.   

Arizona Public Hearing for the SunZia Project

The public is invited to participate in a public hearing to be conducted by the Arizona Power Plant and Transmission Line Siting Committee, a committee of the Arizona Corporation Commission.

The hearing begins Tuesday, September 6, 2022, at 1:00 p.m. and will continue weekdays September 7-13, 2022, as necessary, beginning at 9:00 a.m. on each weekday through completion of the hearing.

A special public comment session will be held on September 6, 2022, beginning at 5:30 p.m. Public comment may be taken at the beginning of each hearing day, or at other times during the hearing, at the discretion of the chairman of the committee.
