“At last! Fortissimo!”

These words were enthusiastically spoken by Austrian composer Gustav Mahler the first time he saw Niagara Falls. (In music, a fortissimo is a passage of music played loudly. Mahler was comparing Niagara Falls to music — loud, beautiful music.)

For as long as humans have been human, waterfalls have proved irresistible and Ontario has been blessed with no shortage of awe-inspiring falls. There are so many waterfalls in Ontario, Tripadvisor had to rank the top 25.

With so many waterfalls and so many opinions on each one, we want to ask Ontario: What is your favourite Ontario Waterfall, and why? We don’t need the tourists telling us, we want the locals to tell us why their favourite waterfall is their favourite.

We aren’t judging based on any certain criteria, and this is certainly subjective to each person. Whether it’s mighty Niagara Falls that moves you or Inglis Falls greeting you after a 7 km hike, there is no wrong answer.

If you’ve taken a picture you love of an Ontario Waterfall, we want to see it! Be sure to tag it with #PatternOntario on your social media posts so we can see them, and we’ll share some of yours via our social media channels!

Don’t wait, Ontario, let’s see those pictures! (Yes, having people in them is great!)
