People of Pattern: Ryan Logan

November 25, 2025

Meet Ryan Logan, the steady hand behind the systems that keep Pattern’s projects running smoothly across New Mexico. As Director of Field Operations, he manages the people, partnerships, and moving parts that turn renewable energy into lasting impact. For Ryan, success is measured in both megawatts and meaningful relationships.

Keeping the field connected

For Ryan Logan, work in energy has always been about bringing people, systems, and landscapes together. As Director of Field Operations for Pattern Energy, Ryan is tasked with overseeing the day-to-day operations of SunZia Wind and Transmission. Prior to SunZia, Ryan managed Western Spirit Wind. That means everything from managing landowner relationships and ensuring contract obligations are met, to collaborating with operations teams, vendors, and new partners as Pattern’s footprint grows.

Ryan’s decade-long journey with Pattern has taken him from managing individual sites to leading regional operations—and now, into new territory with the launch of the SunZia Wind and Transmission project. “We’ve built a fantastic team,” he says. “The people on this team are incredible professionals—what they’re doing with HVDC transmission gives us a real chance to set the standard for operations success.”

His days are full of coordination: forecasting budgets, meeting with turbine manufacturers, ensuring compliance with permits, and making sure every project meets Pattern’s standards of conduct. But at its core, Ryan says, the job is about people—building relationships that last as long as the infrastructure itself.

Rooted in the Southwest

Ryan first came to New Mexico nearly five years ago, after years of working on wind projects across the country. Originally from California, he and his wife Jennifer spent years moving wherever the work took them—from the Midwest to the Southwest—before putting down roots in Estancia.

Their home sits on open land bordered by trails and mountain views. “It’s still the Wild West out here,” he says with a grin. “People are honest; they’ll tell you how they feel. You always know where you stand.” That groundedness is part of what makes New Mexico feel like home. His two daughters, Hailey and Katelyn, are grown—Hailey in Indiana and Kaitlyn in California—but the wide skies of Estancia are where Ryan feels most himself.

According to Ryan, the only thing missing from New Mexico is the ocean, but he’s not much of an ocean guy anyway. “Everything I need is right here.”

A rhythm that lasts

Outside of work, Ryan is a lifelong drummer who once competed in Battle of the Bands, sharing the stage with musicians who’d later play with major acts like Smash Mouth. That same sense of rhythm, he says, carries into his work today: keeping operations in sync, helping teams find their groove, and making sure every moving part comes together on time.

After ten years with Pattern Energy, Ryan still finds purpose in that rhythm. “Every project, every challenge, is a chance to do it better than before,” he says. “And when you’ve got a team that believes in what we’re building, that’s what keeps you going.”
