I was walking down Main Street and ran into the Official Ambassadogs of the New Mexico State Fair!
The Southwest Canine Corps of Volunteers, Inc. is a non-profit located in Albuqeurque.
Their work is very special- if you’ve never heard of therapy dogs, they are dogs that have an affinity for people and like to share their love and companionship.

As people who are dedicated to our dogs as well as to the people whom we serve, the Southwest Canine Corps of Volunteers, Inc. (SCCV) and their canine partners offer comfort, compassion and educational opportunities. We strive to facilitate friendship and mutual support among our members as we serve the community.
The SCCV currently has over 100 members and 120 dogs, and has been offering pet therapy for over 30 years and works with over 40 types of facilities, such as:
- hospitals
- hospices and nursing homes
- assisted living and memory care
- rehabilitation centers
- public libraries
- children’s clinics
- schools and colleges
- emergency dispatch centers
If you see the Ambassadogs at the State Fair, be sure to stop, say hello, and give some pets and belly rubs.
