Walter Pinto
Chief Operating Officer
Walter Pinto is a seasoned energy executive with more than 35 years of leadership experience across the energy and petrochemical industries. He is widely recognized for building disciplined operating and governance models that enhance safety, reliability, capital efficiency, and profitability across large, complex, and distributed asset portfolios. Walter brings a strong board-level perspective combined with hands-on operational credibility, enabling infrastructure-intensive organizations to navigate complexity, strengthen execution accountability, and protect enterprise value as they scale. He has deep expertise in driving performance through structured operating systems, digital transformation, and continuous improvement.
Most recently, Walter served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at EnLink Midstream, where he was responsible for operations across all asset areas, as well as engineering, capital projects, enterprise excellence, IT/OT, and environmental, health, and safety. During his tenure, he played a key role in advancing operational performance, strengthening reliability, and driving organizational alignment across a diverse asset base.
Prior to EnLink, Walter spent his entire career at LyondellBasell, one of the world’s largest petrochemical companies, where he held roles of increasing responsibility. His leadership roles included overseeing major manufacturing complexes and serving as Global Head of Capital Projects, Engineering, Turnarounds, Reliability, and Maintenance, where he led large-scale global initiatives to improve asset performance and capital efficiency.
Walter is also the founder of PennPetChem, where he developed iGoalZERO, an AI-enabled platform focused on operational excellence, environmental health and safety (EHS), supply chain and performance management.
At Pattern Energy, Walter will focus on strengthening operational execution, advancing reliability and performance across the portfolio, and supporting the successful commercialization and long-term operation of key projects, including SunZia. He will also lead Pattern’s Enterprise Excellence program, enabling the company to scale effectively through robust processes supported by digital technologies across operations and corporate functions.
Walter holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering from the National Institute of Technology Karnataka, India, and a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. On a personal note, Walter and his wife live in Houston and have two sons.
