R-2 Crew Enhances Safety with Proactive Measures During Sign Installation

During the sign installation phase, the R-2 crew identified the need to cut some posts and promptly stopped work to obtain a hot work permit. They conducted a thorough Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) meeting to address the new task, ensuring all necessary safety equipment—welder hoods, safety glasses, and welder’s gloves—was available and ready for use.

While preparing to move an office trailer, a Dyess crew member spotted a snake under the rear axle. The team promptly established an exclusion zone and safely moved the trailer without harming the snake. They monitored the snake until it moved to a safer area with high grass and shared the incident with all Dyess crews. This event highlights their outstanding situational awareness and commitment to protecting local wildlife.
