Earl Park Library Tails & Tales

“It has been wonderful for our small library to have the support it does. Every bit helps, and our community loves its library.”

Carina Nance is the Director of the 115-year old Earl Park Library in Benton County, Indiana, and she was sharing her excitement with me about the upcoming summer reading program launching June 1st.

The program is called “Tails & Tales” and was made possible in part due to a donation by Pattern Energy’s Amazon Wind Farm Fowler Ridge.

“We have a lot of fun at the library,” Carina happily told me, “and this year our goal is to get local kids and adults reading!”

Every time a child (or adult) finishes a book, they receive a chance to win prizes in weekly raffles, which has prizes for all ages. And after the six week program is over, there will be the Grand Prize Raffle where two prizes of $100 each will be awarded to two lucky readers.

That covers the “tales” portion. Earl Park has the “tails” portion covered as well. “Every Wednesday, we have an activity,” Carina said, “and the local zoo is doing their ‘Zoo to You’ program, where they bring animals that are safe for the kids to interact with and touch.”
