The Ishikari Offshore Wind project is a pioneer for offshore wind projects in Japan, where no commercial scale wind facilities currently exist. At depths of 15-22m, the site is 1.5-3.0km offshore from the Ishikari Port on the Sea of Japan side of the northern island of Hokkaido. The project has a long history and has strong support from the local community.
Once complete, the facility will sell 100% of its electrical output under a feed-in-tariff (FiT) secured power purchase agreement (PPA) to the utility Hokkaido Electric.
