Fannin County, Texas

Located in northeast Texas, Phoenix Solar is Pattern Energy’s first U.S. solar facility.

  • Mortenson completed project construction in 2021, which involved approximately 200 workers on-site during peak activity. Pattern Energy owns the facility and has a contract with NovaSource to operate and maintain it.

  • Electricity generated by the facility each year is equal to the needs of about 50,000 Texans. Digital Realty has a 12-year power purchase agreement for most of the site’s energy production.

  • Over its first 35 years of operations, Phoenix Solar expects to generate $13 million in new tax revenue for the Bonham Independent School District and $4 million for Fannin County.

Phoenix Solar supports the community by sponsoring local organizations, causes, and events, including the Fannin County Children’s Center, Red River Hoops Association, County Fair, and the Bonham Chamber of Commerce.

We place importance on contributing to the communities where we have a presence.

Please let us know if you have suggestions for sponsorships and local causes we can support.

The 83 MWac facility uses ~240,000 of First Solar’s state-of-the-art panels designed with a focus on sustainability. More than 90% of the panel materials are recyclable at the end of their operational life, and First Solar built a dedicated facility in the U.S. for this purpose.

Environmental experts performed a biological resource assessment to confirm the site did not have critical habitat for threatened or endangered species. Experts also reviewed historical and archaeological records and conducted field checks for cultural artifacts to avoid potential impacts.
