Logan’s Gap Wind is a 200 MW facility in Comanche County, Texas consisting of 87 Siemens 2.3 MW wind turbines. Pattern Energy has an owned interest of 164 MW and three institutional tax equity investors acquired the balance.
Located in ERCOT’s North Zone, the facility connects to Oncor’s 138kV Comanche‐Zephyr line, which crosses the facility site and supplies power to the Dallas‐Fort Worth area. Logan’s Gap Wind is Pattern Energy’s fourth wind power facility in Texas, serving three different regions throughout the state.
Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. has a 10-year power purchase agreement to acquire 58% of the expected output from the facility, and an A-/Baa2-rated financial institution purchases 17% of the expected output under a 13-year fixed price agreement. The remaining 25% of expected output will be sold at ERCOT spot market prices.
Logan’s Gap Wind creates enough clean energy to power 50,000 homes in Texas each year, according to the average annual residential energy use from the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
